Allegheny Submits Request to Raise Virginia Power Rates

    Allegheny Energy said its Allegheny Power unit has submitted a request to the Virginia State Corporation Commission to raise electricity rates beginning July 1, 2007. The electric utility said its proposal is to raise the rates by 16 percent for a typical residential customer.
